Staff Profiles

David K. Holzapfel, CPA (Partner)

David has been in public accounting for over forty years. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business from Wright State University. David has a broad range of experience involving work with construction firms, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, non-profit organizations, service industry clients and employee benefit plan audits. He is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on the executive board of a youth soccer organization and on the board of a local Little League organization.

Kelly R. Sauer, CPA (Partner)

Kelly joined Mahle, Wack, Zaidain & Co., PLL in September of 2005. She performs work in the areas of tax, accounting and auditing for a variety of industries including non-profits, retirement plans, restaurants, retail, and wholesale/distributors. She is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. Kelly is a graduate of Wright State University and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom..

Joseph S. Zaidain, CPA/ABV, PFS, CVA (Partner)

Joe is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelors and Masters degree. He has over thirty years of experience in accounting. Joe’s specialties include personal and estate tax preparation and planning, business valuations, and general management consulting. Joe is a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is accredited by the AICPA in Business Valuations (ABV), Forensics (CFF), and Personal Financial Planning (PFS). Joe also serves several church, school, and athletic organizations.

Grant Trudel (Staff Accountant)

Grant joined Mahle, Wack, Zaidian in October 2018.  He is a graduate of Tiffin University with a Bachelor of Science in Business focused in Accounting and received his MBA from the University of Findlay. He has over 10 years professional work experience in tax preparation and planning, accounting, compilation, review and auditing services for both for-profit and non-profit entities. He is actively working toward his CPA licensing.

Colin E. Flaute (Staff Accountant)

Colin joined Mahle, Wack, Zaidian in January of 2021. He graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Accounting.  He is currently studying for the CPA exam.

Kimberly J. Powell (Staff Accountant)

Kim joined the firm in February, 2000. She has over forty-five years banking/finance/accounting experience. She is a graduate of Sinclair Community College and Capital University.

Kimberly G. Robbins (Administrative Assistant, Notary Public, Bookkeeper)

Kim joined the firm in September of 2015 and has over 25 years of on-the-job bookkeeping experience. She has completed almost all of the required credits for her Associate Degree in Accounting at Sinclair Community College, and has been a Notary Public since 2007.
